Muennich Motorsport scored the third podium placing in Portugal

Friedersdorf/Porto (rol/ot) That has been hot races – in the truest sense of the word: The start into the second season half of the FIA World Touring Car Championship (WTCC) with the runs 13 and 14 this weekend (29th/30th of June) in Porto brought the third podium placing for the German Team ALL-INKL.COM Muennich Motorsport from Friedersdorf.

Huff, who switched to the racing stable from Saxony right before the season start, has been the best Seat pilot on position five behind four Chevrolet the race before as well, when the French world championship front-runner Yvan Muller has won.

Huffs team colleague Marc Basseng finished in the points ranking as well on position ten and five. In contrast, team principal and racing stable owner René Münnich (both Neusalza-Spremberg) was unlucky, because he discarded early in both races due to technical issues – first, one of the upper strut bearings was broken and at the second race the fuel pump was striking.

"That has not been good for me of course", René Münnich said. „But with the results of Rob and Marc, our team had a great start into the second half of the season. That gives us courage for the upcoming races."

Rob Huff, who won in Hungary and finished third in Russia, had some trouble with the brakes early at the second race on the tight and hard 4.8 km long city course in Portugal. "I always had to brake earlier than my combatants, but I was able to keep them behind me. I am very happy about the podium placing", the British said, who improved his drivers ranking to position four.

Marc Basseng, who is the team manager of ALL-INKL.COM Muennich Motorsport same time, was very happy to bring some points home after four racing weekends without any luck. It has been exhausting business on the city course with lots of bumps and crash barriers and with an air temperature of 36 degrees Celsius and a track temperature of 64 degrees Celsius.

Altogether it has been a good weekend for the whole team“, Basseng said, who had some tire-to-tire duels with his team colleague Rob Huff in both races at his debut race in Porto and who is the best German driver in the rankings on position 13.

Right after the races, the Münnich crew started to pack all the equipment and the cars in a container for shipping, which will be loaded onto a ship afterwards at the harbour of the second largest city in Portugal. Because now the WTCC goes overseas.

The next season event is scheduled for the 3rd/4th of August in Argentina, with a premiere race of the Touring Car World Championship on the race track "Autódromo Termas de Río Hondo".
