Rebellion Racing heads to the 6 Hours of Spa as an extension of the development of the new R-One

The brand new REBELLION R-One LMP1-L race cars will compete for the first time this weekend during the 6 Hours of Spa, round two of the 2014 FIA World Endurance Championship.

With only 5 days of testing prior to the Belgian event, the Swiss team will focus on development and testing of the cars in race conditions.

After the first race at Silverstone, where the team ran 2013 spec Lola-Toyotas, securing a fourth place overall, the team went directly to the Paul Ricard HTTT to start testing the R-One and build the cars ready to race at Spa-Francorchamps.

It's been a huge effort to get the cars ready to race with late nights and some « all nighters » since Silverstone and the team flew directly from Nice to Brussels without being able to go back to the UK in between.

The Belgian enduro will constitute an extended test for the R-Ones rather than a race.

REBELLION Racing is realistic in their expectation for the 6 Hours of Spa.

Everyone has given everything that they have to get these cars ready and I'm very proud of the work ethic and professionalism of everyone that has been involved. Our expectations for the race are quite modest, we anticipate new car teething problems, but we considered it to be crucial to be at Spa to give ourselves the very best preparation for Le Mans. We start a new chapter for the team this weekend and we hope that it will be a great continuation of what has already been a fantastic story for REBELLION Racing."
