G-Drive Racing arrives in Belgium to tackle the Spa-Francorchamps 6 Hours in a confident state of mind boosted by its win in the opening round of the 2014 FIA World Endurance Championship at Silverstone.

The Morgan LM P2 has always been very much at ease on the Belgian circuit as it finished second last year although it is still chasing its maiden victory in the Ardennes.

The last two races at Spa were won by an Oreca 03-Nissan and a Zytek Z11SN-Nissan, so the team is determined to clinch victory with its no. 26 Morgan-Nissan LM P2 shod with Dunlop tyres and add yet another success to the constructor Onroak Automotive’s results. Julien Canal, Olivier Pla and Roman Rusinov will have to cope with the uncertain weather that is an integral of the Spa challenge and beat tough rivals.

Julien Canal: “Silverstone was my first race in LM P2 and I’m really delighted to have crowned it with a victory. It wasn’t easy given my lack of experience in the prototype category. The weather conditions were difficult too, but the team did a great job. For the second round at Spa the changeable weather is still part of the equation. In addition, there are very fast curves and technical corners so I’m going to have to work with the team and my team-mates to be ready in optimal conditions. I’m feeling very motivated and very confident.”

Olivier Pla: “The season got off to a great start for us at Silverstone and we have to continue in the same vein and score the maximum number of points again this weekend. I’m feeling confident as during the first round we showed that the car and the team have what it takes to win.”

Roman Rusinov: “We did a great job in the first round of the FIA WEC and we’re going to try and do the same thing this weekend at Spa. It’s a particularly important race for us because we consider it as a rehearsal for the Le Mans 24 Hours. I’m sure we’re going to be competitive thanks to our Morgan chassis, our Dunlop tyres and G-Drive support.”

Philippe Dumas, Team Principal: “I can’t wait to be at Spa and to take part in this race to achieve a perfect weekend. I have the impression that something very strong is beginning to emerge between our three drivers, and it’s the perfect opportunity to prepare for the Le Mans 24 Hours, the greatest endurance race in the world in which we’ll be competing in just a few weeks.”
