Conway makes it a third in Shanghai

London, UK – November 10, 2013 – Mike Conway takes home his third victory of the season when he and his teammates John Martin and Roman Rusinov competed in the penultimate race of the World Endurance Championship, the 6 Hours of Shanghai in China yesterday.

The No. 26 G-Drive Racing entry also claimed their third pole in four races when Conway and Martin recorded an average of 1:55.423, over a second ahead of the next two entries.

Lining up on the front row of the LMP2 class, the G-Drive/Delta-ADR team continued to dominate their class when the green flag was shown. Halfway through the race Conway was hit from behind, causing a lot of damage to the left rear bumper. During each pit stop after that, the bumper was then taped back up which caused some delay, however despite all this the team were able to bring the car home and claim their third victory of the season.

“It’s great to be able to pick-up a third win,” said Conway. “The whole team did a great job this weekend, but it was shame that we got hit halfway through the race. The impact caused a lot of damage to the rear and then every stop after that we had to tape it back up so lost a lot of time. I am really happy though with how this weekend went and look forward to having another good race in Bahrain at the end of this month.”

Conway and his team picked up 26 points, which places them fourth in the championship standings, just 22.5 points away from first with one race remaining.

Next up for Conway will be the 60th Anniversary of the Macau Grand Prix, where he will race in the Scirocco R China Masters Challenge with past Macau GP champions, November 16-17.

The final round of the FIA World Endurance Championship will be the 6 Hours of Bahrain, which will take place 28-30 November.
