Team BOC's Jason Bright is determined to improve the team's qualifying performance tomorrow after a frustrating day of racing at Winton for round 3 of the V8 Supercar championship.

The SuperSprint format features two 100km races and two critical back to back qualifying sessions.

Bright put the Team BOC VF Commodore sixth on the grid for the first race, then finished the race right on team mate Dale Wood's tail in fourth place.

For the second race, Bright was disappointed to line up in 13th place after qualifying.

Showing the true pace of both car and driver, Bright made up six places in the second race to finish seventh.

“I was disappointed with the first race. For the first part of the race I was just looking after my tyres waiting for everyone else to fall off but then we had three ridiculous safety cars that ruined any chance of that paying off. I was pretty happy with the pace in the races all day. We lost the right rear tyre (grip) though pretty early on in the second race so I felt like we would've had much better pace if that wasn't the case. We need to qualify better. Both races our race pace was great but we didn't qualify well enough. Tomorrow is a much different race (200km race). More strategy and if we qualify up the front I'm confident we can do a lot better.”

Team mate Fabian Coulthard in the Lockwood Racing Commodore won the first race, with Dale Wood in third.

Lee Holdsworth in the Erebus Mercedes won the second race from Ford's Mark Winterbottom and Fabian Coulthard.
