After a disappointing second to friend Jamie Whincup yesterday, Trading Post driver Will Davison was a much happy man after taking the chequered flag to win the second race of the season and 2012 V8 Supercar Championship ahead of team mate Mark Winterbottom in the sister car with Garth Tander in the Holden Racing Team grabbing his second podium.

Davison started back on the third row of the grid after qualifying 6th and it wasn’t until lap 47 that he took the lead from Tander who lead the race for 9 laps after wrestling it from Whincup who’s Team Vodafone Commodore was experiencing engine troubles.

... it couldn’t have been a better weekend.

This was Davison’s first win since winning the Bathurst 1000 in 2009 with Tander and to say he was happy is an understatement, “It feels magic, I had two poles at Homebush last year and ended up with two fat zero’s, I got the monkey off my back, it couldn’t have been a better weekend”.

Davison continued, “I came to Adelaide wanting to attack, but also knew I had to be sensible if I was going to walk away this weekend with some points and a good start to the championship”

Greg Murphy and Jonathon Webb failed to start after Murphy drove the Pepsi Max Commodore into Webb during the earlier qualifying session as they were on the back straight. Mechanics and engineers from both teams will have some long nights ahead of them to get both cars back on track for the next round at the Melbourne Grand Prix in two weeks time.

With the exception of James Courtney’s Holden Racing Team Commodore having problems with the tail shaft, it was a green race for the entire 250 kilometres. Courtney started from pit after failing to qualify as the team worked on his car all night after yesterday’s incident. Team BOC were able to get Jason Bright back on track after yesterday’s bone rattling collision with the wall. Bright was critical of organisers suggesting there needs to be some changes to Turn 8. In reality, that is motorsport and accidents will occur. Just read the back of any race ticket, motorsport is dangerous.
