With three out of four consistent qualifying efforts over two days, the bright yellow dragster is one to watch in Sunday's NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series championship eliminations at the Minnesota track.

"We made it down the track three out of four qualifying runs," said Massey, while cleaning parts to help his team after qualifying No. 3. "We made it down the track in the heat of the day with a 3.79 on Saturday in conditions like it could be for the first round of eliminations tomorrow."

With the forecast calling for a high in the mid-70s, challenges await crew chiefs Todd Okuhara and Phil Shuler.

"We haven't had conditions like these in a long time," Massey said of suffering through record summer heat. "It always makes it a little bit more interesting when you can go out there and go for it in the first round on Sunday.

"There's a fine line between going for it and getting the win, and going for it and going too hard and losing traction. I'm confident my crew chiefs know how to walk that line." Massey credits that knowledge to the enormous amount of data collected by Okuhara and Shuler.

"Todd's and Phil's goal for qualifying is to gather information that will help us on Sunday. I definitely think we have that data we need going into eliminations and win rounds.

"Plus, our DSR dragsters are qualified in the top three and that's a statement of how good our organization is and good our guys at the track and back at the shop are."

Massey's teammates Tony Schumacher and Antron Brown are qualified first and second, respectively.
