Word on the street: Allmendinger moves to Penske

It appears that AJ Allmendinger had landed the sought after ride with Penske Racing. Following his best season in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, the Californian ended up yesterday without a ride in the 2012 season after he finishes 15th in the points this year.

Richard Petty Motorsports lost the Best Buy sponsor to Roush Fenway Racing. Yesterday, they gave Allmendinger his walking papers but the former open-wheel star, who has earned respect since joining the NASCAR ranks, did not take long to land a new ride.

Allmendinger was not on the possible list of drivers who could end up with the Penske ride after the departure of Kurt Busch on December 6th.

Yet as of today, word on the street is the driver of the No. 22 Dodge who will chase for the 2012 Cup crown will be Allmendinger.
