Ford championship weekend a fitting end for Wood Brothers' 63rd season
They’ll race their iconic No. 21 Ford Fusion, with Trevor Bayne at the wheel

November 14, 2013 The Wood Brothers of Stuart, Va., and their Motorcraft/Quick Lane team will end their 63rd season of motorsports competition in a manner most appropriate for a team that has never raced anything other than Fords, Mercurys and Lincolns.
Featured on the sides of the storied No. 21 will be Ford Customer Service Division’s new Service Parts Warranty, announced just last week. The new warranty provides unlimited mileage coverage for 24 months from time of purchase or installation.
“This is one of the races we always look forward to,” said Eddie Wood, co-owner of the No. 21 Motorcraft/Quick Lane Ford Fusion. “It’s obviously a big weekend for Ford, and the Service Parts Warranty is a huge deal for our sponsors at Ford Customer Service Division, and their Motorcraft and Quick Lane brands. A lot of Ford Motor Company executives will be there, and we always like to visit with them at the race track.”
Ford’s part warranty provides customers towing reimbursement for repairs completed at any Ford or Lincoln Dealership. The warranty also provides independent repair facilities the ability to complete repairs for customers by securing parts from a dealership or Ford authorized distributor. All customers benefit with more options on how they can have their vehicles serviced.
Ford’s previous service parts warranty was 12 months or 12,000 miles, whichever occurred first, and labor was covered if the part was installed by a Ford or Lincoln dealership. Labor was not covered on parts sold over-the-counter to a fleet or installer.
For the Ford EcoBoost 400, Donnie Wingo and the Motorcraft/Quick Lane crew have prepared Chassis No. 818, which was last raced at Michigan International Speedway and was used in a recent test session at Homestead-Miami Speedway.
“We have a good feeling about this car,” Wood said. “It raced well at Michigan, and we learned some things in the test that should help at Homestead.”
Qualifying for the Ford EcoBoost 400 is set for Friday at 6:10 p.m. Eastern, and the race is set to get the green flag just after 3 p.m. on Sunday with TV coverage on ESPN.
