In seven overall starts, the 31-year-old has two top-10 finishes at Atlanta Motor Speedway and his best finish at the track is sixth-place (3/7/10). Allmendinger's average start is 27.857 and his average finish is 14.429.

The last time out with JTG Daugherty Racing was at Watkins Glen International where he scored the team's best finish (10th-place) of the season.

JTG Daugherty Racing Quotes:

Team tested Atlanta: "It was good to be able to test Atlanta Motor Speedway a few weeks ago," AJ Allmendinger said. "We were not as fast as we would have liked to been. You always want to be faster, but we learned a lot that the team was trying to work towards. Overall, the test was really good with trying to understand what tire they will use. We know we need more speed and we are coming with a brand new race car. We know to be able to test at a track is so beneficial. It really showed at Watkins Glen International."

Testing benefits: "We tested with AJ at Atlanta Motor Speedway to learn the characteristics of the tire," crew chief Brian Burns said. "It helped us at Michigan International Speedway. When we tested Atlanta we worked on the front end package and took it to Michigan. We're looking forward to coming to Atlanta with it."

Aggressive track: "Atlanta Motor Speedway will be a good track for AJ because its high speed aggressiveness will play into his style," Burns said. "I think the new tire adds another twist. You don't have to push the limit of having failure because it allows you to run less camber, which means less risk of blowing a tire. Basically, it allows you to run less aggressive camber that is better on the tires and safer for the driver without sacrificing performance."

Taking it back to the old school: "I enjoy Atlanta because it's old school," Allmendinger said. "Atlanta's pavement is old and your always sliding around out there working the race car. It will be the same. It has so many grooves and the tires go away quick and you are searching for your line. It is fast when it comes to outright speed. It is a place where you try not to abuse your tires and where you see sideways race cars."

Building relationships: "I enjoy being around the guys at JTG Daugherty Racing because they are fun to be around," Allmendinger said. "I've had a great time bonding with them. It is important to build good relationships. Being a single-car team, they don't have a lot of test days. So, we are gathering as many notes as we can to try to narrow down the gap of what we have to work on."
