Michael Waltrip is breathing a sigh of relief today.

5-Hour Energy announced that despite the recent events at Richmond International Raceway, the company would remain with the team into the future, supporting Clint Bowyer and the 15 car.

This move comes in the wake of long time Michael Waltrip supporter NAPA who announced last week it would be leaving the organization at years end.

Speculation surrounding the other sponsors reactions to the actions taken by Michael Watrip Racing, who were penalized by NASCAR for their manipulation of the results of the Richmond event, which in turn changed the outcome of the drivers who made the Chase.

“This week the 5-hour ENERGY® team met after the New Hampshire race to discuss our future with Michael Waltrip Racing. While our original plan was to announce the status of our sponsorship at the end of the year, this timeframe left many concerned about their future. There are scores of passionate fans, numerous charitable organizations, and hundreds of hard-working MWR employees and their families who are directly impacted by 5-hour ENERGY’s NASCAR sponsorship,” the company said via Facebook.

“After several internal discussions and meetings with MWR, we are prepared to announce our decision ahead of schedule. 5-hour ENERGY® will be back as a sponsor of MWR and Clint Bowyer for 2014. We look forward to another great year of competitive racing. Go 15!”

No word on whether or not Aaron’s will stay with the team, or if the NAPA move will effect Martin Truex Jr.’s tenure at MWR.
