Today at the Valencia Circuit, where Marc Marquez was crowned 2013 MotoGP World Champion yesterday, the first day of the 2014 MotoGP season kicked off with a three-day test.
It was also Yonny Hernández’s first day as an official member of the Pramac Racing Team, and the Colombian turned 37 laps, setting his best lap time of this trip to Spain: 1’32.745. Hernández left the circuit earlier than expected in order to undergo an MRI that will help to better understand the nature of the injury to his right hand.Today’s track time was used mainly to test parts that had already been available during the 2013 season, as well as different bike setups that he hadn’t had time to try during the last few rounds of the championship.
Yonny Hernández – Pramac Racing Team: “It was a good first day. We set a good time and did some good work. In a way it was difficult because my hand is almost more painful when I’m not riding, and I didn’t have any injections today. There’s a lot of pain right now, but soon I’ll have an MIR in the clinic here at Valencia, to make sure it’s only a fracture so that I can relax a bit. Although I couldn’t ride more than that today, I’m happy with what we did today. Our time was better than in qualifying and the race, which is certainly positive. We’ll see how my hand is, and in the meantime we’ll get ready for day two of this test tomorrow.”
