Veach heads to favorite track of Toronto for third start

TORONTO, CANADA (July 9, 2013) - 'Third time is the charm' could be the motto for Andetti Autosport's Zach Veach this weekend as he returns to the 1.75-mile, 11-turn temporary street course on the streets surrounding Lake Ontario in downtown Toronto for his third start. The 18-year-old Firestone Indy Lights K12 driver is looking to backup his second-place result from 2012 in Star Mazda during his inaugural start in Indy Lights this weekend in Toronto.

"Toronto is a race I've been looking forward to for awhile now," said Veach. "With getting second there last year, I was really able to pick the track up quickly and I'm hoping to do the same again this year in the Lights car. Finishing fourth last weekend at Pocono in the K12 car, I'll be working to finish a few spots higher. The fans at Toronto are amazing and I'm excited to put on another show for them this year."

Veach, of Stockdale, Oh., is fresh off the Pocono 100 where the driver advanced two spots to finish fourth. The race came with mixed emotion as Veach was closing out the fourth straight oval race of the 2013 Indy Lights season, which saw him record his best career start (second) and finish (Third) in Indy Lights on the oval of Milwaukee. He'll make one final oval-race start in October at Auto Club Speedway.

This weekend Veach will be taking a break from the oval course and transition back to road course racing. The last time Veach was on a road course was back in April at Long Beach where the K12 pilot recorded his best career Indy Lights road course start of third. His best career Indy Lights road course finish of fifth came on the Streets of St. Petersburg in the season opener.

With the Streets of Toronto not being a new venue for the bullying and distracted driving advocate, Veach looks back to his two previous appearances at the street course in the Star Mazda Championship back in 2012. Veach's previous starting spots are second and third with a best finish of second. Going into the weekend, the K12 driver not only has experience on his side but wisdom as well. With Veach's team owner being retired former driver Michael Andretti, who has had the most wins of any other driver at Toronto with seven, he is sure to get some helpful advice that could give Veach the edge he needs to finally get a win at Toronto.
