Panther signs Briscoe for Saturday’s Milwaukee IndyFest

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Panther Racing announced today that Ryan Briscoe will return to the team’s No. 4 National Guard Chevrolet for this weekend’s Milwaukee IndyFest at the Milwaukee Mile, the track where Briscoe captured his first career IndyCar Series victory in 2008.

Briscoe has made two previous IndyCar starts this year with Panther during the Chevrolet Duel in Detroit, and also started in the Indianapolis 500 last month with Ganassi Racing.

“We’re excited to have Ryan Briscoe back this weekend,” Panther Managing Partner John Barnes said. “It was great to work with him a few weeks ago in Detroit and he obviously knows his way around the Milwaukee Mile, so we feel like we’ll be able to have a good weekend in the National Guard Chevrolet.

We’re working on getting him signed for several other races this season, so hopefully we’ll have that finalized in the short term future.”

Oriol Servia, who made his Panther Racing debut last weekend in Texas, is already confirmed to compete in the National Guard Chevy at the June 23rd race at Iowa Speedway.

“I felt like the team gelled really well when we worked together in Detroit and I’m sure we’ll be able to pick right up where we left off this weekend in Milwaukee,” Briscoe said.

“It’s obviously a very challenging racetrack and you need to get things right but Panther’s always had a great oval package and I’m excited to jump back into the National Guard Chevy and get back at it this weekend.”

Following the race on Saturday Briscoewill be traveling directly to Le Mans, France to continue preparations for the 24 Hours of Le Mans, the historic sports car endurance race where he’s competing with Level 5 Motorsports and co-drivers Marino Franchitti and Scott Tucker. Briscoe and the team have already captured P2 class victories in the 12 Hours of Sebring and at Laguna Seca.

Briscoe’s seven career IndyCar Series race wins have been spread across every type of track configuration on which theseries runs; street courses (St. Petersburg, 2009), permanent road courses (Mid-Ohio, 2008; Sonoma, 2012), short ovals (Milwaukee, 2008) and superspeedways (Kentucky and Chicagoland, 2009; Texas, 2010). Briscoe also has 13 career poles, including capturing pole position in last year’s Indianapolis 500.
