Dreyer & Reinbold Racing Loudon test day report

Dreyer & Reinbold Racing

DREYER & REINBOLD RACING IS READY FOR THE MOVETHATBLOCK.COM INDY 225; GREAT DAY OF PRACTICE FOR THE TEAM

Loudon, NH (August 11, 2011) -After a tough weekend in Mid-Ohio, Dreyer & Reinbold Racing is prepared to put that behind them and to earn a good result for the 12th round of the IZOD IndyCar Series this Sunday in Loudon, New Hampshire. This weekend marks the first time for the team's drivers to compete at the track and today was a positive start for DRR as Tomas Scheckter (No. 22 DRR entry) and, rookie, Ana Beatriz ( No. 24 Ipiranga) were 14th and 24th quickest for today's practice session.

Last weekend took an unexpected turn for Dreyer & Reinbold Racing. Justin Wilson, driver of the No. 22 Roll Coater machine, was involved in a single-car incident in practice for the Honda Indy 200. During the Saturday morning practice session in Mid-Ohio, Wilson ran off on the exit of Turn 1. As a result, he dropped two wheels off the asphalt and then went hopping through the grass, which then sent the car airborne.

Wilson was transported from Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course to MedCentral Hospital in Mansfield, Ohio by ground transportation and was kept overnight. He was transported to Indianapolis last Sunday to meet with Dr. Terry Trammell and on Tuesday, he was released from the hospital. Wilson has a stable burst fracture of the T5 with no spinal cord injury. He will be treated with bracing and serial x-rays. Wilson will be unable to drive for a minimum of three months.

Tomas Scheckter will substitute for Wilson this weekend. He will pilot the No. 22 entry. The South African was the sensible choice for Dreyer & Reinbold Racing as he has a lot of experience on ovals and with DRR as well. Scheckter came on board with DRR in 2009 competing at ten races for the team. He earned three top-ten finishes (6th- Iowa, 8th - Chicago, 9th- Miami). He ran with DRR last year for four events, including the Indianapolis 500.

Scheckter will be making his first appearance at New Hampshire Motor Speedway this weekend. Today was a good start for the South African as the No. 22 crew tried a number of things and learned a lot in today's sessions. Scheckter was 14th quickest and completed at total of 117 laps and recorded a fast lap speed of 166.933 mph.

Today marked the first time that Ana Beatriz turned laps at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. The Brazilian had the opportunity to test a number of things during today's practice. She was the 24th fastest and clocked a fast lap speed of 162.382 mph and completed a total of 80 laps.

The Brazilian, secured her best IZOD IndyCar career qualifying result in Milwaukee with an 11th place starting spot. Three weeks ago, she earned her best qualifying result on a road course, with a 23rd place starting position, and her second best career finish in the IZOD IndyCar Series in Edmonton finishing 13th. Bia earned her best IZOD IndyCar result in Toronto, Canada when she brought the car home in 11th place.

Dreyer & Reinbold Racing will be on track for the MOVETHATBLOCK.COM Indy 225 in Loudon, New Hampshire on August 14th. The race telecast will air live on Sunday, August 14th at 3:30 pm (ET) on ABC. For more updates on the team, please visit www.dreyerreinboldracing.com.

What they have to say...

Tomas Scheckter, No. 22 DRR entry: "Today was a good day for my first time to run on this track. It's just great to be back with Dreyer & Reinbold Racing. Obviously, our thoughts are with Justin and his recovery, but it's good to be back in the car. The car has been working really well and we made a massive amount of changes today and learned a lot. I think we learned what we needed to learn for Saturday and Sunday."

Ana Beatriz, No. 24 Ipiranga: "The track is good and very similar to Milwaukee. I thought that it was going to be easier to pass, but I think it will be as hard as Milwaukee so we will see. We tried a lot of set-ups and tried different things, but they didn't really work. Luckily we have a day to think about it and we should be good for Saturday."

Justin Wilson on his back:"Obviously, I have a little bit of a backache, but I'm just frustrated to not be at the racetrack. I think that we just started to get our season turned around and the car was really good at Mid-Ohio and I'm disappointed about that. I know that I'm going to miss the ovals and I think we've found some good stuff that was going to help our oval performance. So, I'm just disappointed to not be the car, but my back is the most important thing. I'm going to try and get that to heal and get back to 100 percent as soon as possible and get back in the car. As for myself, I'm feeling good and I'm already thinking about getting back to racing. Also, the response has been incredible and it's really nice to see that rather it's on Twitter from the fans, or drivers and ex-drivers. Everyone has been really supportive, so thank you to all of them. I also want to thank the Safety team, medical staff and AirMed that did the transport from Ohio to Indianapolis. It's been great treatment all the way around. I want to wish the team good luck this weekend and I'm looking forward to see how they do.
