The Service Central Team Brings Home a 12th-place Finish in Kentucky
SPARTA, Ky. (October 2, 2011) – Service Central Chip Ganassi Racing (SCCGR) driver Graham Rahal finished 12th in the Kentucky Indy 300 at Kentucky Speedway.
The No. 38 Service Central car proved to be fast on the 1.5-mile Kentucky oval after posting consistent lap times in the top 10 during the practice sessions on Saturday. Rahal, who has three previous starts at Kentucky Speedway, went out for qualifications and put together a two-lap combined time good enough to earn him a spot on the front row for the Kentucky Indy 300 as he matched his season-best qualifying effort of second.
The green flag flew for the 200-lap event and Rahal held on to his second-place starting position, not letting the leader out of his sight while holding off the third-place car during the entire first stint. By lap 138, Rahal would make up the top-three with his teammates Dario Franchitti and Scott Dixon and they would work together to pull away from the rest of the pack. The No. 38 Service Central car was running second when Rahal came to pit lane for the final time on lap 169 to top off on fuel. The Service Central team would ultimately cross the finish line 12th-place.
With the finish, Rahal remains ninth in the IZOD IndyCar Series points standings, 253 markers behind leader Dario Franchitti.
Up next for Service Central Chip Ganassi Racing is the IZOD IndyCar Series World Championship at Las Vegas Motor Speedway on Sunday, October 16, 2011 (3:00 p.m. ET, ABC).

Graham Rahal: "The Service Central guys did a great job all day. The No. 38 Service Central car was quick and had the pace to finish up front. I worked with my teammates Dario (Franchitti) and Scott (Dixon) to pull away from the group when we were running top-3 and it seemed to work well. We know the Service Central car can run up front. I'm looking forward to a good finish in Las Vegas."
