Bourdais is optimistic heading to Toronto

KVSH Racing driver Sebastien Bourdais is optimistic as he heads north for the Honda Indy Toronto doubleheader, July 18 - 20, on the 1.75-mile, 11-turn downtown temporary street circuit at Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

Bourdais, who will pilot the No. 11 Team HYDROXYCUT - KVSH Racing Chevrolet/Dallara/Firestone machine, has every reason to be optimistic when it comes to racing in Toronto. Now in his ninth IndyCar season, the talented 35-year-old Frenchman has enjoyed a tremendous amount of success there while engaging in several epic battles.

This is a very important race for the KVSH Racing team because our sponsor, Hydroxycut, has its headquarters just outside of Toronto in Oakville, so we are expecting a lot of support at the track

In nine previous starts, Bourdais has finished in the top-10 eight times including five top-five finishes with one victory(2004) and three poles (2004, 2005 and 2007). His battle with Paul Tracy in 2005, which ended with Bourdais finishing fifth is considered a classic between the two former rivals and his back-to-back podium performances, third in Race No. 1 and second in Race No.2, last year launched a run of top-10 finishes to conclude the 2013 season that moved him from 23rd to 12th in the final standings.

Commenting on the Honda Indy Toronto race weekend, Bourdais said,"This is a very important race for the KVSH Racing team because our sponsor, Hydroxycut, has its headquarters just outside of Toronto in Oakville, so we are expecting a lot of support at the track. Over the years I have had some very exciting races in Toronto and had some good results. It is always a great event. The city really supports the race, the track is challenging and the fans are knowledgeable. The Hydroxycut - KVSH Racing car has been fast on most of the street circuits this year and with two races this weekend hopefully we can have a couple of good results for the sponsors, their employees and guests and make up some ground in the championship standings."

Bourdais, the only driver to win four consecutive U. S. based open-wheel championships (2004-2007), currently sits 12th in the championship standings with 282points after the first 12 events of the 18-race 2014 Verizon IndyCar Series season. He has earned four top-10 finishes including three top-five showings (season-high fourths at Houston Race No. 1 and the inaugural Grand Prix of Indianapolis, fifth in Houston Race No. 2 and a career-best seventh place performance in the Indy 500).

This weekend's Honda Indy Toronto, the third doubleheader of the 2014 Verizon IndyCar Series season, will have both races broadcast live on NBC Sports Network beginning at 3:00 p.m. (ET). They can also be heard live on IMS Radio Network affiliates, XM Channel 209, Sirius Channel 213 IndyCar.com, IndyCarRadio.com or via the Verizon IndyCar14 app.
