March 3
Future Indianapolis car racer Joe Leonard wins the Daytona 200 motorcycle race on the beach at Daytona, Florida, USA (1957).
March 4
Wendell Scott becomes the first black to race on the NASCAR Grand National (now Sprint Cup) circuit when he races at Piedmont International Speedway in Spartanburg, South Carolina, USA. He finishes in 17th place (1961).
Tommy Milton drives the Miller powered Durant Special to victory in a 250-mile race at Beverly Hills, California, USA (1922).
March 6
John Bowe drives a Ford Sierra to victory in the ATCC Group A race at Amaroo Park, New South Wales, Australia (1989).
March 7
Jack Brabham, driving a Brabham BT33-Cosworth, wins the South African Grand Prix at Kyalami. First appearance of a March in an F1 race (1970).
March 8
Keiji Matsumoto wins the Japanese F2 race at Suzuka, Japan, driving a March (1981).
March 9
David Coulthard wins the Australian Grand Prix in a Mercedes powered McLaren. First Mercedes Formula One victory since Juan Fangio won the 1955 Italian Grand Prix (1997).
