ADAC GT Masters: Sixth place for Mies and Rast in Red Bull Ring race 2

The second ADAC GT Masters race at the Red Bull Ring was another hard event for Audi today.

By Tarek Ramchani The second ADAC GT Masters race at the Red Bull Ring was another hard event for Audi today. After two difficult days in both qualifying and race 1, the Audi R8 LMS ultra was again not able to fight for the top spots.

Rene Rast and Christopher Mies were the best Audi drivers after the 1-hour race on the Austrian track. Sharing the #27 Audi R8 LMS ultra from Prosperia C.Abt Racing they finished in sixth, twelve seconds behind the winning car. Another Audi car was also within the top 10, the #26 machine driven by Rahel Frey and Christopher Haase was classified tenth.

The other Audi entries were twelfth with the #1 MS Racing (Sebastian Asch/Florian Stoll), fifteenth with the #28 Prosperia C.Abt Racing (Christer Jöns/Markus Winkelhock), nineteenth with the #16 THE BOSS YACO RACING (Philip Geipel/Filip Sladecka) and not classified in twenty-fifth with the #100 MS RACING (Daniel Dobitsch/Aditya Patel).

Race victory went to the #2 Corvette Z06.R GT3 from Callaway Competition, second was the #10 Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3 from Polarweiss Racing and third the #12 BMW Z4 GT3 from DB Motorsport. Race 2 results can be seen here. In the driver's standings, both René Rast and Christopher Mies are now fourth overall with 92 points. Prosperia C.Abt Racing is leading the team's championship table with 138 points. The next round of the ADAC GT Masters will be at EuroSpeedway Lausitzring.
