Kansas City, Kan. – Spirit of Daytona Racing pilot Ricky Taylor will start the SFP Grand Prix at Kansas Speedway from sixth on the GRAND-AM Rolex Sports Car Series grid on Saturday after setting a fast lap time of 1:10.461-seconds on the challenging 2.37-mile “roval” circuit which features the high banked oval and a series of slow, twisting corners through the infield.

Taylor will open the 2.75-hour race, which marks Round 10 of the 12-race championship, from behind the wheel of the No. 90 VISITFLORIDA.com Corvette DP before turning the controls over to co-driver Richard Westbrook. The duo is seeking a podium run in GRAND-AM’s Kansas debut Saturday night after a gearbox failure left the team disappointed with the final result in the previous round of Road America last weekend.

“We feel like we have a pretty good car,” offered team owner Troy Flis. “We are still learning the track a little bit and still learning a couple of things to make the car better. I think the guys have done a really great job and we just have to keep our heads down and keep digging. Our car is only off by a couple hundredths of a second. So we are going to keep digging and hopefully have a clean race with no issues tomorrow!"
