Miller Racing prepares for Sports Car Challenge finale at Lime Rock Park

Team confident heading to Lime Rock after second top-five finish of the year

The No. 158 Miller Racing Ford Mustang Boss 302R, co-driven by team principal Roger Miller and Ian James and sponsored by the Larry H. Miller Dealerships, the Ford Racing High Performance Driving School and Miller Motorsports Park, is prepared and crewed by Dempsey Racing.

Lime Rock is one of America's oldest road racing circuits, having opened in 1957. At 1.5 miles in length, it is also one of America's shortest road racing circuits. The seven-turn layout is renowned for close-quarters, take-no-prisoners racing, as is the Grand-Am Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge. Due to the tight confines, the Grand Sports class in which Miller Racing competes and the Sport Tuner class for smaller coupes and sedans will each have their own separate, 2.5-hour race.

As a result, there will be "only" 24 cars taking the green flag, but that will be more than enough to provide great competition from flag to flag. The weekend will get underway on Friday, with a 25-minute practice session at 8:30 a.m. MDT and another 20-minute practice session at 11:25 a.m. preceding the 15-minute qualifying session at 12:15 p.m. MDT. The race is scheduled to start at 8:30 a.m. MDT on Saturday.

This will be another learning experience for Miller, as Lime Rock is a track on which he has never raced. However, following the team's second top-five finish of the season at California's Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca on September 8 after coming back from an early-race accident that resulted in considerable body damage, he is feeling confident about another good finish.

"I can't believe the end of the season is already here," Miller said. "Coming off such a great event at Laguna Seca, I'm really looking forward to this week's race. The Dempsey Racing crew has been hard at work putting 'Humpty Dumpty' (the car) back together again after the carnage we endured in California, and I'm expecting to have a great outing at Lime Rock Park."

"Lime Rock is the shortest track we go to on the schedule," said James, "and it's nicknamed 'The Bullring' since there is no real time to relax during a lap, if such a thing exists in a Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge race. It was the first track I raced on when I first came to America in 1994, so I have fond memories from there. The Miller Racing Boss 302R has been put back together after a tough race at Laguna Seca, and I am sure will be raring to go when it rolls off the trailer. The team is operating at a very high level right now, and I am confident Roger and I will be able to get a good result to finish out the year."
