Dr. Jim Lowe will be savoring his third home-track advantage at New Jersey MotorSports Park for the Grand-Am Global Barter 250 on May 12-13, 2012. The World’s Fastest Neurosurgeon will again be sharing the #77 Doran Racing COMBOS Ford Dallara Daytona Prototype with none other than IndyCar star Paul Tracy.

Lowe participated in the Grand-Am NJMP 250 in 2010 running the 64 JLowe Racing Porsche GT3 Cup in GT Class achieving a Top 10 finish with co-driver Johannes van Overbeek. This year he is even more excited to be behind the wheel of the COMBOS Ford Dallara lead by Kevin Doran with Tracy. Lowe and Tracy formed a good relationship during the 50th Rolex 24 at Daytona, finishing 7th along with Brian and Burt Frisselle, and have been making plans with Doran to partner up again ever since. “I am absolutely thrilled to race again with Paul Tracy. Any red-blooded racer would enjoy having a champion of such caliber as their co-driver whether an endurance race or a sprint event like New Jersey. Working with Paul turned out to be an absolutely enjoyable experience. He is an exceptional guy, fun to hang out with, great to drive with, and excellent from a technical standpoint.”

I enjoy the configuration we run with the big carousel chicane; and it has some very technically challenging parts.

Living just one hour from the track, Lowe has gained a wealth of experience on the narrow 2.25-mile racetrack known as Thunderbolt Raceway. “I enjoy the configuration we run with the big carousel chicane; and it has some very technically challenging parts, very little opportunity for passing in certain sections so you really have to be on your game when you go on the attack in these slower corners.” While Tracy has yet to turn a lap on the twisty narrow 12-turn road course, he is confident he’ll adjust just fine. “I’m really excited to get back behind the wheel with Doran. We had a good run at the 24 hours at Daytona and the team has had a chance to prepare for the upcoming races. I’m pleased to get back together with Jim for his home- town race at New Jersey. This is a track I have not yet driven, so I’m eager to learn the course on Thursday during the opening practice session. I’m looking forward to a great weekend with Jim and Kevin and the rest of the Doran crew.”

Lowe is looking forward to the three-day weekend in New Jersey to strengthen their bond as teammates with the hopes of clinching another Top 10 - or better - finish in the 2 hour 45 minute race on Saturday. The time spent will hone their shared skills as it has now been confirmed that Paul Tracy will join Lowe and Doran Racing for the two remaining events in the North American Endurance Championship taking place on June 30th with the Sahlen’s Six Hour at the Glen, Watkins Glen, NY, and July 27th for the Super Weekend at the Brickyard at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

Team Owner, Kevin Doran. “I am very happy to get to the track again with the COMBOS Daytona Prototype. It will be exciting to run with Jim and Paul teamed up for this sprint race at New Jersey.”

Once again, COMBOS® Cheese-filled Baked Snacks will be coming along for the ride at the Global Barter 250 at New Jersey sponsoring the #77 COMBOS Ford Dallara.
