Altamonte Springs, FL – In his rookie season of GRAND-AM Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge Series competition, driver Ryan Ellis won in his debut at Daytona and finished the season-long race for the championship third in the Street Tuner class driver point standings. He also won Rookie of the Year that year in class. Fast forward two years as Ellis returns to test this coming weekend at the sight of his first Grand-Am win, this time with I-Moto Racing.

The two parties inked a deal in the offseason that tagged Ellis to drive the #30 MazdaSpeed3 for the full 2013 season with co-driver Mat Pombo. Ellis filled in for the team mid-way through the 2012 season when one of the team’s full-time drivers was injured off track. The Ashburn resident and George Mason University student would help I-Moto win both the Team and Driver Championships in the Street Tuner Class. Look for Ellis to continue to build off of the 2012 performance he showed at the Lime Rock Park finale last September to bring I-Moto Racing another championship in 2013.

Having the opportunity to drive full-time in CTSCC with Mat Pombo and I-Moto Racing is one Ellis finds incredibly humbling and exciting. “Daytona is a homecoming of sorts for me. I grew up watching many racing legends battle on the high banks and was able to win my first ever Grand-Am Road Racing event at the famed speedway. This track is extremely meaningful to me and I think that Mat and I have a great chance of winning this event. After a long off-season, I can't wait to get back behind the wheel of the I-MOTO MazdaSPEED3.”

Ellis’ march to a title begins Friday at the Roar Before the 24 Test Days. “This test will be a nice step back into the season before our race a few weeks later” he stated.

As previously mentioned, Ellis and I-Moto Racing will be on track together January 4th through the 6th for the 2013 Grand-Am Road Racing Roar Before the 24 at Daytona International Speedway. Stay tuned for updates!
