KANSAS CITY, Kan. – GAINSCO/Bob Stallings Racing and Jon Fogarty qualified seventh Friday at Kansas Speedway for tomorrow night’s SFP Grand Prix at Kansas Speedway where GAINSCO, Fogarty and co-driver Alex Gurney will be looking for their second win of the season and a major move in the GRAND-AM Rolex Sports Car Series Championship in the No. 99 GAINSCO Auto Insurance® Corvette Daytona Prototype.

Round 10 of 12 races on this year’s schedule, the timed 2-3/4-hour SFP Grand Prix can be seen live tomorrow, Saturday, August 17, on the all-new FOX Sports 2 network at 8 p.m. EDT/5 p.m. PDT. An encore telecast will air this Sunday, August 18, on FOX Sports 1 at 4 p.m. EDT/1 p.m. PDT.

Fogarty turned a top time of 1:10.481 (121.054 mph) on his eighth flying lap of the timed 15-minute session, a half-second behind the pole-winning team. “We are a half-second behind, but this is a short track, so that is a big chunk of time” Fogarty said. “It seems like we have been kind of taking steps backwards a little bit so we are scratching our heads.

The car was just not as good in qualifying as it has been in early practice. We just lost our way but we have the ability to find our way back. We do have data to draw from on our earlier sessions when we think the car was better, so we are just going to go look for that.”

GAINSCO, Gurney and Fogarty, the 2007 and 2009 GRAND-AM Rolex Sports Car Series Team and Driver Champions, have been in the hunt for a third set of Daytona Prototype titles since winning the second race of the year at Circuit of The Americas (COTA) last March.

The No. 99 GAINSCO drivers come to Kansas Speedway’s 2.370-mile “roval” road course four points out of the driver championship lead. Gurney and Fogarty trail leaders Ryan Dalziel and Alex Popow, 246 – 242, while the same 242 points total has the No. 99 GAINSCO “Red Dragon” third in the team standings, just nine points shy of first. Popow qualified behind GAINSCO on Friday and will share row four with Fogarty for the start from eighth on the grid.

Race day Saturday begins with a 30-minute final practice warm-up session at 11:30 a.m. CDT with the featured SFP Grand Prix scheduled to start at 7 p.m. CDT that evening.
