The German Grand Prix, which takes place this weekend at the Hockenheim circuit, is the eighth round of twelve events that make up the GP2 Series in the 2012 season. Barwa Addax Team and official drivers, Johnny Cecotto and Josef Kral are in Germany hoping to confirm their good showing in the last Grand Prix held in Silverstone.

Johnny Cecotto had a great weekend after having qualified in second place. He took advantage of his starting position and finished in an excellent second place on the podium in the main race on Saturday. His aspirations took a knock in the second race when he was crashed into by a rival, just three corners before the end of the race, while he was lying in fourth position and which would have guaranteed even more points for himself and the team. The brave Venezuelan driver deserves a change of fortune.

Josef Král continues to show signs of the potentially great driver that he is. After having started from the back of the field, he gradually picked off all rivals in his path and even came close to scoring points in Sunday’s second race. He is highly motivated for this weekend and hopes for a good result.

The team has an important challenge ahead of them this time round due to the new tyre norms. Each team has the right to two sets of soft tyres and three hard over the weekend. Although this norm had been used previously in Silverstone, the wet weather conditions throughout the weekend meant that we will have to wait for the result of this new modification. If the weather stays fine this could be the weekend.

Johnny Cecotto, Barwa Addax Team driver: “I’ve always liked the Hockenheim circuit very much. I’ve had lots of podium finishes in Formula 3. The track has a lot of fast bends and important braking points and I think our car should go very well around here. We still have a lot of work to do concerning the new tyre norms that were introduced before the Siverstone race. The problem was we were driving all weekend in England with wet weather tyres and we couldn’t work with all the tyres available to us. We are well prepared for all eventualities, dry conditions or wet and I’m really looking forward to getting back to competing on this circuit after two years.”

Josef Kràl, official Barwa Addax team driver: “I am looking forward to Hockenheim a lot because most of the time I was on this track I was on podium. I like the circuit and also there is always lot of fans who make really good atmosphere of this race. We worked hard on the simulator as well so I believe that we are well prepared and now we need some good luck on our side”.
