A jump start from R-ace GP’s Max Defourny gave the title contender the lead of the race, as polesitter Lando Norris in second battled with a fast starter Will Palmer on the Kemmel Straight.

The two collided going into Les Combes, with Palmer losing his front wing after it touched Norris’ right rear. The R-ace GP driver eventually retiring from the race.

Meanwhile, the Josef Kaufmann Racing driver continued on, but lost a place not only to de Sadeleer but also Boccolacci, dropping down to fourth.

As expected, Defourny was handed a drive-through penalty which dropped him to 15th, giving de Sadeleer the lead from teammate Boccolacci, with Norris in third.

While Boccolacci and Norris kept on the fight for second, de Sadeleer enjoyed his lead upfront taking not only his first podium, but also his maiden Eurocup win, having started the race from sixth.

In the end, Boccolacci fended off late pressure from Norris to finish second, with Sacha Fenestraz fourth and Gabriel Aubry sixth, making it a Tech 1 Racing 1-2-4-6 - much to the delight of the French team.

Behind the top four, JD Motorsport’s James Allen enjoyed strong pace to end fifth, making up six places from 11th on the grid.

Fortec’s Ferdinand Habsburg and Nikita Troitskiy made good inroads in the race to finish seventh and eighth respectively.

Both managing to go past the Force India protégé Jehan Daruvala, the Indian having made up places at the start, only to lose them to finish ninth.

R-ace GP’s Julien Falchero rounded off the top 10, as Defourny only managed 11th in the end, scoring no points to Norris’ 15 in the title battle.
