The provisional entry list for the first race of the 2013 European Le Mans Series has been released and no less than thirty cars, divided into four categories, will take the start of the 3 Hours of Silverstone on 13th April.

2012 Champion Thiriet by TDS Racing will be fighting to retain its title in LMP2, and will be up against strong opposition from the nine other prototypes in the series’ top class including Greaves Motorsport, which has just claimed a first podium at the 12 Hours of Sebring, and which fully intends to stand in Thiriet by TDS’s way this year. Boutsen Ginion Racing, Murphy Prototypes, Race Performance as well as Signatech Alpine, Jota Sport, DKR Engineering, Morand Racing and Orex Competition complete the list of ten LMP2 entries in the 2013 ELMS.

In LMPC three ORECA FLM09 cars will be entered in the colours of the French Team Endurance Challenge.

LMGTE will be the second well represented class on the starting grid at Silverstone with no less than ten GT cars coming from teams such as Ram Racing, AF Corse and JMW Motorsport and Kessel Racing – all of whom will campaign the Ferrari 458 Italia. IMSA Performance Matmut, Prospeed Competition and Proton Competition will put the Porsche 911 GT3 RSR into the limelight, while 2012 LMGTE winner, Larbre Competition, will enter the one and only Chevrolet Corvette C6-ZR1.

Finally, the new GTC class is living up to the expectations of teams and drivers. Indeed, no less than seven cars will start the 3 hours of Silverstone, among which will be two Ferrari 458 Italia GT3s entered by AF Corse, and two Autorlando Sport Porsche 911 GT3 - R and RSR. Kox Racing, Momo Megatron DF1 and Ecurie Ecosse will each line up with, respectively, a Lamborghini Gallardo LP600 GT3, an Audi R8 LMS and a BMW Z4.

Ten nationalities for the first ELMS meeting

The European Le Mans Series is aptly named as no less than ten different nationalities are represented by the teams and fourteen by the drivers on the entry list. French and British teams account for almost half the grid (seven for each nationality), while Italy, with six cars in GTE and GTC, upholds Latin honour. Belgium (2) and Switzerland (3) are both entered in the LMP2 class but plenty of other countries also figure: entries from Germany, Ireland, Luxembourg, the Netherlands and even the United States will all be seen on British soil.

We are delighted to welcome all the teams to Silverstone.

Pierre Fillon

Pierre Fillon, President of Automobile Club de l'Ouest, commented: "We are very happy to see that the initial list of entries for the 2013 ELMS has grown for the first round of the season. Thirteen prototypes (LMP2 + LMPC) and seventeen GT cars (LMGTE + GTC) on the grid promise great and spectacular races. The ACO has decided to include GTC in the list of ELMS categories for this year, and the number of entries in this class demonstrates that we have responded to the wishes of teams and drivers. We are delighted to welcome all the teams to Silverstone, which marks the launch of a new endurance racing season in Europe. We look forward to seeing many of you there.”
