Pietro Fantin finished his British F3 career with a podium at Donington. The Brazilian, who races for Carlin, took third in the Sunday Sprint race.

Race 1 saw Pietro start from 6th but at the start he dropped back to 7th. As the race progressed he built up the momentum and eventually managed to pass Fortec’s Felix Serralles to reclaim 6th, just before the chequered flag.

In the Sunday Sprint Race, the 20 year old Brazilian started from 3rd. He slipped back a couple of places but, by the end of lap 1, he was back up to 4th.

After a Safety Car period, Pietro kept the pressure on Serralles and put in a great pass and from then on he was able to charge in to the clean air and put in the fastest lap.

When the chequered flag fell Pietro was still 3rd earning him a good podium. “It’s good to be on the podium, qualifying was disappointing, but we made some changes to the car ahead of race one and it felt much better.

I was able to put pressure on Serralles, and then after he made a mistake at turn 4 I was able to get past. When I was in free air the car just felt fantastic and was getting better and better. It’s was nice to get fastest lap,” said Pietro.

That just left the final race which started at 6pm after a delay. So with day light fading and a championship to fight for, the drivers were keen to get racing.

Pietro started 5th but was 4th after the start. It was looking like that's where he would end up, but a spin with just 2 laps to go meant Pietro had to settle for 6th.

It means that at the end of a long and more difficult season than Pietro had been hoping for, he finishes 7th in the British F3 Championship.
