Myatt Snider said he was very methodical in choosing the next step in his racing career but never did he expect to capitalize on it so quickly.

Snider, the 21-year-old son of NBC Sports NASCAR TV broadcaster Marty Snider, came away with a victory Sunday in his first career ARCA start. Sunday’s Menards 200 at Toledo (Ohio) Speedway was Snider’s first in a new deal with Cunningham Motorsports that is slated to cover at least nine races.
Myatt, a junior at Belmont (N.C.) Abbey College, has been competing most recently in Late Model Stock Cars in both the NASCAR Whelen All-American and CARS Tour series.
“I was probably hoping for a top-10 or a top-five and bring the car home in one piece and learn these races play out and how the racing dynamic is,” Snider told Motorsport.com. “It’s different for every series because the cars are different.
“If I’m honest, it happened way faster than I thought it would. It definitely helps being with Cunningham Motorsports and working with Paul Andrews (team manager) and my Late Model crew chief, Jeff Caudil. They are phenomenal and made the transition a whole lot easier.”
Snider was fast all weekend in his No. 22 Ford and beat his teammate, Chase Briscoe, off pit road during the final stop with less than 40 of 200 laps to go.
Restarting fifth, Snider quickly worked his way forward and slipped underneath then-race leader Kyle Weatherman on Lap 167. He held off Dalton Sargeant to pick up the win.
Snider said the experience he already had racing with drivers like Sergeant and Weatherman made it a much easier transition going into his first ARCA race.
“I was in shock (when he took the checkered flag) and I’m still kind of in shock,” he said. “I may need a few days to take this all in, to be honest. It’s pretty shocking. I definitely knew my team was capable; I just didn’t know if I could make the transition quick enough.”
Snider said he views the opportunity with Cunningham this season as the most important so far in his racing career.
“We were very methodical in choosing the ARCA Racing Series as the next step in my career,” he said. “It offers so many more benefits than I say a K&N race does. ARCA is just a great opportunity for me for what I believe I need for the future.”
Snider also lauded the support of his sponsor for the race, Original Louisiana Hot Sauce. “They made the whole entire thing possible,” he said. “When people like that give guys like me a chance, it makes me really happy. I couldn’t be happier with the people I’ve surrounded myself with.”
The remainder of Snider’s ARCA schedule consists of races at Pocono (twice), Michigan, Iowa, Lucas Oil (Indianapolis), Chicagoland, Kentucky and Kansas.
