Sean Edwards, qualifying driver of No. 30 MOMO NGT Motorsport: “It was a tough qualifying session. We didn’t get our laps together. The car is fast though and P2 is fine. It would have been nice to have our first pole this year. We’re still missing that so we’ll have to try again in the next round. We would have been close if we would have put everything together but it still would have been difficult to do today. A 2:11.9 time is really quick and it’s 2.5 seconds faster than my pole here two years ago. The track is obviously much quicker. For the race I think we’re in good shape. Hopefully we’ll come away with another win.”

MOMO drivers Angel Benitez, Jr. (No. 25 MOMO NGT Motorsport) and Eduardo Cisneros (No. 29 MOMO NGT Motorsport) finished seventh and eighth respectively in Saturday’s IMSA GT3 Cup Challenge by Yokohama race.

Other MOMO drivers who competed in the IMSA GT3 Cup Challenge included Mark Llano (No. 29 MOMO NGT Motorsport) who finished 18th, Amadeo Quiros (No. 29 MOMO NGT Motorsport) who finished 24th and Craig Duerson (No. 27 MOMO NGT Motorsport) who suffered an accident and finished 29th in the competitive 33-car field.

Ludovico Manfredi raced in the Cooper Tires Prototype Lites powered by Mazda Race #1 Saturday morning and won in the L2 class.

Ludovico Manfredi, driver of No. 13 MOMO ANSA Motorsports IMSA Lites: “I raced in the IMSA Lites 2 class race today. There are only two L2 class participants this weekend among a field of 22 cars. For the first time in my life I had no competition, did not take the checkered flag at the finish line and yet finished first. There will be more cars competing at the next event and more competition next year as well.

“Road America is a track that has a bit of everything. It has elevation changes, fast sweeping corners, a semi-hairpin that is very fast. They have a kink, which on an IMSA Lites you get to take flat out. It’s one of the classic American race tracks that makes racing in the U.S. so exciting. I think it’s more exciting than even racing in Europe.”

Miguel Benitez, who pilots the No. 30 MOMO ANSA Motorsport entry, finished 11th in Saturday’s highly competitive L1 class of the IMSA Lites. Benitez, the uncle of MOMO NGT Motorsport GT3 competitor Angel Benitez, Jr., will be back for the 45-minute Race #2 tomorrow. Manfredi will also compete in tomorrow’s IMSA Lites Race #2 at 8:25 a.m. EDT in the No. 13 MOMO ANSA Motorsport entry.

Rod Randall and co-driver Ken Wilden competed in the No. 83 MOMO BGB Motorsports Porsche Carrera in today’s Grand-Am Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge race. After starting in the 18th position in the GS class, they worked their way up to finish 12th in the two-hour and 30 minute race. This was the Daytona Beach, Florida team’s debut with the beautiful red-yellow-and-black liveried MOMO entry.
