DREYER & REINBOLD RACING CONTINUES SUPPORT FOR RACING FOR KIDS
Indianapolis, IN (November 18, 2009)- With the 2010 season right around
the corner Dreyer & Reinbold Racing not only continues their longtime
support of Racing for KidsŪ, but will also take this opportunity to
reflect on their relationship with the organization. Not only did the
team celebrate 200 race starts at the season opener in St. Petersburg,
Florida this year, but they also commemorated Racing For KidsŪ 20th
Anniversary as well as their 10 year affiliation with the organization.
DRR Team co-owner Robbie Buhl has served as Racing For Kids national
spokesman since its inception in 1989.
"Dreyer & Reinbold Racing and its drivers have been valued partners with
Racing For KidsŪ since 2000. With Robbie as our national spokesperson
and Dennis hosting an annual Indy 500 weekend fundraiser, we have been
able to put smiles on the faces of many sick children and further our
reach, especially in Indianapolis.
As we celebrate our 20th Anniversary, Racing For KidsŪ is very thankful
for the support of partners like DRR, who have been instrumental in
making our mission -- "Helping Sick Children Get Better Faster" --
take hold in the racing community, " said J. Patrick Wright, Executive
Director, Racing For Kids.
Founded in Detroit in 1989, Racing for KidsŪ is designed to use
the increasing popularity of motorsports to focus public attention
and funding on the health care needs of children. Racing for KidsŪ
representatives have visited more than 20,000 young patients in
nearly 400 hospitals in the United States, Canada, Mexico, Japan, and
Australia. In addition, nearly $5 million has been raised through
donations and specific fund raising events for children"s hospitals and
child health institutions and causes across the country.
The hospital visits are the heart of the program and as they continue to
show their support for the program, DRR drivers Mike Conway and Milka
Duno, along with a host of IndyCar and Firestone Indy Lights Series
drivers, have actively participated in the Racing For KidsŪ drivers
visits at Children"s Hospitals where they raced this season.
"Racing For KidsŪ is very near and dear to my heart. It is an honor
to be a part of the organization and to help them celebrate 20 years.
It's extremely rewarding to visit these children and leave knowing you
have brightened their day and Dreyer & Reinbold Racing is happy to
be involved. We look forward to continuing our support of Racing For
Kids and to visit new race markets next year," commented Robbie Buhl,
co-owner of Dreyer & Reinbold Racing.
This year Duno and Conway visited seven hospitals in Iowa, Kansas,
Edmonton, Texas, Ohio, California and Kentucky. The duo had the
opportunity to spend time with each sick child, answering questions
about their sport, posing for pictures and signing autographs.
In an effort to generate support, Racing For Kids has an annual
fundraiser that Dreyer & Reinbold Racing takes part in. Most recently
pilot of the #24 DRR machine, Conway, had the chance to visit the Racing
for Kids headquarters in Detroit, Michigan and participate in Racing For
Kids to the Hill. The organization teamed up with The Hill Association,
a group of merchants and businesses located on Kercheval Avenue in
Grosse Pointe Farms, Michigan who helped sponsor Racing For Kids to
the Hill. The event had two components as they closed the main street
Kercheval which featured dream cars, the DRR #24 car and transporter
as well as simulated pit stops done by the No.24 crew. In the evening
there was a cocktail reception at the Northern Trust Building featuring
gourmet hors d"oeuvres from the restaurants on the Hill as well as jazz
entertainment.
As the holiday season closely approaches, Dreyer & Reinbold Racing
will continue to ramp up their efforts to support Racing For Kids.
