After F1 exit, Toyota staying in NASCAR

Racing series   NASCAR F1

Toyota is staying in the premier American racing category NASCAR, despite deciding to pull out of Formula One.

Toyota Racing Development president Lee White said the Japanese carmaker's F1 retreat "has no bearing on its NASCAR programme".

"It (the decision) should have no effect whatsoever on our NASCAR programme, our NASCAR plans and our NASCAR future. We remain completely committed to NASCAR and NASCAR is completely committed to us," he added.

Toyota's Japanese rival Honda pulled out of F1 at the end of 2008, but remains the exclusive engine supplier to the premier American open wheel category IndyCar.
